Following the traces of popular festivities, labour, traditions, and ways of life in Sete Cidades — one of the beating hearts of São Miguel — Enchanting Lagoons is, above all, a celebration of life in its passages and transformations. It honours this living organism and its many beings who share, work, sing, create, and build their own culture and stories within a geography as challenging as it is dazzling.

Grounded in the idea of evoking in order to honour, the work recalls and exalts the gestures and memories that shape history and territory, while mapping the affective ties that continue to animate the island’s social and cultural life. The first public moment takes the form of an installation at Arquipélago, serving as both percursor and invitation to a ritual actions that will activate these objects during the Symposium weekend, culminating in a collective and participatory performance in Sete Cidades.
