Through photography and sculpture, the works presented here outline a relational cartography: images and forms that interlace, suggesting connections between bodies, infrastructures, and landscapes of the Azores and other Atlantic archipelagos. They are fragments of the same inquiry into presence and impermanence, into how we inscribe ourselves in territories of water, stone, and light.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Works on Display <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jos\u00e9 Pedro Cortes (new commission)<br \/>\n<em>Ocean Rain<\/em> (2025)<br \/>\nDrawing from images collected over time across different Atlantic archipelagos, Jos\u00e9 Pedro Cortes explores impermanence, immersion, and silent observation. Through photography, he traces bodies and infrastructures in dialogue with a subterranean and volcanic cartography, where documentary recording meets the poetic potency of an attentive gaze.  His landscapes, portraits, and still lifes become visual maps of contemporary life \u2014 open, transitory, and unfinished.<\/p>\n<p>Joana Albuquerque<br \/>\n<em>Grandes Pod\u00f5es <\/em>(2024)<br \/>\nThese sculptures are part of a series where the artists extend the relationship between body and territory. The title plays on a double meaning \u2014 pruning tools, and the Azorean expression used to describe someone clumsy or unfit for work. The pieces evoke the shadows of resting bodies at Pesqueiro, stretched out in the sun and water.
