César Schofield Cardoso

César Schofield Cardoso is a visual artist based in Praia City, Cabo Verde. He works across photography, video, and web projects. His current work looks at the colonial and post-colonial conditions of Cape Verde, a small African country extremely vulnerable to environmental, social, political, and economic factors. It explores digital tools and the web space as a channel, language, and metaphor for social and political issues. He is the co-creator of the digital platform “Storia na Lugar”, a storytelling approach to socio-spatial dynamics, which looks at issues of the right to the city, and ways of building and dwelling.
